Minis and Marvels Development Program

School children under the age of 10 begin basketball in the Minis and Marvels sessions. They learn basic basketball skills and have a fun informal game at the end of the session.

When: Friday afternoons.

Junior Competition

This is the first taste of real basketball games. We follow FIBA rules.

Children under the age of 12, 14 or 16 (at the end of the playing year) are allocated a team with a junior coach and parent organiser. Players will need to purchase a double-sided MABA junior playing jersey.

18 & Under players assign their own teams, jerseys and coaches or can be added to existing teams.

When: Friday afternoons/evenings.

While players are generally allocated into their age groups for competition, exceptions can be made based on players abilities and confidence levels. Please speak to the Junior Coordinator or email us for consideration.

Note: Games may be shortened or cancelled during wet weather.

MABA Junior Playing Jerseys

U12, U14 & U16 players will need to purchase and wear a double-sided MABA junior playing jersey when registering. The cost of jerseys has been reduced through sponsorship and should last players multiple seasons.

The jersey is green on one side, and orange on the other with a unique players number. If the draw determines you are Team A, you will show the green side, Team B will show the orange side.

Replacement jerseys can be purchased at the stadium.

Before the game

It is recommended you arrive 15-20 mins prior to your game starting time and be at your allocated court at least 10 mins prior to your game to allow time to find your coach, be added to the game list, put on your playing shoes and be game ready.

Times and Draws

Games have 10 min quarters with a 1 min break after quarter 1 & 3 and a 2 min break after quarter 2 (half time).

Draws are posted on the MABA website and the BasketballConnect app.

Two of our three courts are outside therefore in the case of wet weather, Junior draws will need to be adapted.

Please check our social media channels for wet weather updates and game cancellations.
